About this course

Designed for officers and crew members on coastal or unlimited voyages. This advanced 31-hour course focuses on long-term patient monitoring, shipboard pharmacology, and medical response when professional assistance is hours or days away.

Who is this course for?

Marine Advanced First Aid is required for officers in charge of medical care on vessels operating on longer voyages, or crew members seeking comprehensive medical response training.

What you will learn

Develop clinical diagnostic and treatment skills to manage severe trauma and illness over extended periods.

Recording vital signs, nursing care, and monitoring trends in patient condition over hours or days.

Safe administration of shipboard medications, dosage calculations, and consultation protocols.

Advanced Trauma & Suturing

Wound debridement, closures, advanced splinting, and severe bleed management with tourniquets.

Yes. BraveHeart's Marine Advanced First Aid course complies with STCW Regulation VI/4 (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) and is Transport Canada approved under TP 13008.
Is Marine Basic a prerequisite for Marine Advanced?
While completing Marine Basic First Aid is recommended for initial safety baseline, it is not a mandatory prerequisite for Marine Advanced. You can enroll directly in Marine Advanced First Aid.
